What does an ATS resume checker actually tell you?
An applicant tracking system helps employers collect, organize and search applications. The tools that claim to “score your resume” usually apply their own rules to your resume, a job posting, or both. A score from one checker is not a score assigned by every employer.
Start with what can be directly checked: whether resume text is accessible, whether standard section headings help organize your experience, and whether your achievements are specific enough to evaluate. Then compare your evidence against an actual job description.
Readability ≠ job fit
A resume may parse cleanly while missing the role's important requirements. It can also contain the right experience but communicate it poorly. These are different problems and deserve different checks.

How to make a resume easier to read and evaluate
Prefer clear text over decorative layouts
Use a readable structure. A plain-text paste can reveal missing or disordered content, but it cannot detect every issue in a PDF or DOCX, especially text embedded in images.
Back up responsibilities with evidence
Describe what you did and the results you can support. Specific scope, quantities and outcomes give a reviewer a better basis for understanding your impact.
Compare with the actual role
Highlight truthful overlap with job responsibilities. Keywords are clues, not proof of fit. Avoid stuffing phrases or listing capabilities you don't possess.
